UEG Week: Building Momentum Through Collaboration

At UEG Week 2025, INTERCEPT joined thousands of experts in digestive health to exchange ideas and showcase progress in the early detection and prevention of Crohn’s disease. The event also marked a major milestone, the official launch of the PREDICT-CD study.

The 2025 edition of UEG Week, hosted by our partners at United European Gastroenterology (UEG), brought together thousands of researchers, clinicians, and innovators dedicated to improving outcomes for people affected by digestive diseases.

Amid this vibrant exchange of ideas, the INTERCEPT consortium was proud to join the momentum contributing to discussions, hosting interactive sessions, and showcasing research that pushes the boundaries of early detection and prevention in Crohn’s disease.

A highlight of the week was a major milestone for INTERCEPT: the official launch of the PREDICT-CD study and the recruitment of the first participant in Portugal. This landmark study will engage 10,000 first-degree relatives of individuals living with Crohn’s disease across seven European countries. The first effort of its kind in Europe.

These participants will play a crucial role in validating biomarkers and a blood-based risk score designed to identify Crohn’s disease in its pre-clinical phase, even before symptoms appear. Those identified as being at the highest risk will later be invited to join an intervention trial, paving the way toward earlier prevention and personalised care.

Progress in this field happens when science, industry, and patients work together and that spirit of collaboration lies at the heart of INTERCEPT.

Here’s to the ideas sparked, partnerships strengthened, and the shared vision of pioneering a future without Crohn’s disease. Follow our journey as we move forward into 2026.
