New Section of Our Website: Families at the Heart of INTERCEPT
For many people living with Crohn’s disease, family is everything. They are the ones who show up through the pain, who learn the routines and who find ways, big and small, to help carry the load. But what if families could do more than support each other through Crohn’s? What if they could help stop it before it starts?
That is exactly the question we are exploring in INTERCEPT, a European research initiative working to change how Crohn’s disease is understood, detected and treated. Our goal is bold: to shift from managing Crohn’s after symptoms appear to intercepting it much earlier in the pre-clinical stage before it takes hold.
To make this vision a reality, we have launched a groundbreaking clinical study called PREDICT-CD, focused specifically on people with Crohn’s and their first-degree relatives — parents, siblings and children. Why? Because research shows that close relatives may have a higher risk of developing Crohn’s. By working closely with families, we can uncover early biological warning signs through biomarkers and explore ways to predict or even prevent disease onset in future generations.
We believe that families are not just part of the story — they are leading it.
Our new “Families” section on the INTERCEPT website shares powerful, real-life stories of what it means to live with Crohn’s or stand beside someone who does. You will also meet the trailblazers participating in the PREDICT-CD study, people helping push research forward to support a healthier future for their loved ones and generations to come.
Together, we are building a research community rooted in empathy, science and action.
